Mascara Commercials Falsely Advertising?

Why do the show models on mascara commercials wearing false eyelashes? Shouldn't it be false advertising since they're insinuating that if we use their mascara our eyelashes will look like that? Gah that's been bugging me! lol

Mascara Commercials Falsely Advertising?
I fully agree agree on that one!! I continuously see this foundation (and makeup)-packed, puckered-up model with the 2-hour worked-on perfect hair swivel around in the light that makes her look her best and then... false eyelashes galore!! Big, curly black things... I mean, do they really believe that WE'RE going believe that? Maybe some naive 12 year old kid, but geez... I feel truly offended! And profoundly annoyed.....
Reply:Remember it's just advertising.

What about all the fashion models advertising clothes, I don't look anything like them wearing similar clothes!
Reply:i some how agree but the do seem false but i dont think they are.

I know some people even me who could get those same results, just it takes time
Reply:Actually, most of the time they don't even use false lashes, but they spend hours tediously coating every single eyelash and separating them and making them look as long as possible so that they appear fake, but in reality they are not, but still no woman on earth would ever spend that long on their lashes so the only way they could look like that would be with falsies.

I'm sure they use models that have ridiculously long lashes to begin with, as well!
Reply:Perhaps they're not wearing false eyelashes. Did you tug on them and find them to be false?

:-)~
Reply:argeein with ya x
Reply:yeah..u r right!!
Reply:mine always look like the tv ads when i put it on!! it all depends on your eyelashes to start with!! mine are long and thick so I dont have any problems!! but if you have small short lashes - there is no way they will look full and long!!
Reply:Don't they still make Mascara out of Guano?

Who wants that in their eyes anyways.

I don't know if what they re doing in their ads constitutes false advertising.
Reply:Yes, advertisment helps them promote sales. All they really want is profit from customers who are willing to believe that yes you can make your eyelashes 300% longer and thicker with their mascara. LOL
Reply:No. Since we all know they are wearing falsies, and we see what the mascara does to falsies, what they are selling is what the mascara does to falsies. Now, if you couldn't get the same results with falsies and the mascara that would be false advertising.
Reply:Yeah,I noticed that too and it is false advertisment.
Reply:They want money the way doesn't matter

Homework help on Advertising campaign/slogan/bumper sticker?!?

I need homework help. I am supposed to come up with an advertising campaign for the basis of Roman society. So that is basically violence and Christianity. I also need to come up with a slogan and a bumper sticker for this campaign. I DESPERATELY NEED HELP!!!

Homework help on Advertising campaign/slogan/bumper sticker?!?
I would argue that the basis of roman society was the system that brought clean water to the city, that kept it from becoming a cesspool of death and disease. Pieces of the original system of aquaducts around Rome are still function.

Can you go from graphic design/advertising to the business side of it?

I am a junior/senior majoring in graphic design/ advertising. I have found that I am not much interested in the handson computer designing aspect. I am interested in the big picture, coming up with the concept not actually making it. If I minor in marketing do you think I could get a job in advertising/marketing on the business side rather than the art side? Thanks to people with experience or knowledge

Can you go from graphic design/advertising to the business side of it?
Worked in marketing/finance/HR since 2002.

The only thing you truly need is a degree. Any degree.

A basic knowledge of accounting/marketing is helpful if you want to get on the business end. So take accounting 101, intro to macro, and intro to micro at least would help.

Finance/econ/management majors + MBAs do get their foot in the door easier on the business end, but they aren't the only ones.

As long as you have a degree you can get into any job really. You could graduate as an Asian Studies major and have gotten an entry level job with me as long as you had some specific knowledge of the business or how a business runs in general or have specific computer skills or just the fact that we were hiring and you interviewed well.

I'd suggest checking your school's resources for an internship for at least in-between semesters or summer to see what you might need to do in the specific field you want to be in. If that's not possible, just get your degree and pound the pavement from there. And if you aren't qualified to get the job you want, go back to school and get qualified.

But for the most part, I've found any degree can get your foot in the door, at least entry level. What you do after that is your problem.
Reply:Well, why not ask someone already in advertising/marketing on the business side !
Reply:uhh, i dunno but just for quiriosity, what software do u use for graphiuc design. Adobe illustrator?
Reply:You can, although you may find you really need an MBA. I would recommend against majoring or minoring in marketing or advertising (your graphic design program is good just concentrate on the art part); you'll learn all they would teach in the first six months on the job. You do need some marketing, economics and math in preparation for B-school. Be sure to be making presentations in your classes, or take a speech class. A marketing career without an MBA is not promising. However, an MBA combined with a art background would be very interesting to ad agencies.
Reply:Definitely minor in Advertising or Communications. It will certainly help you! Also, if your school requires internships (or even if not) try to focus on either of those. It would be very beneficial for you to understand the design part of the process so you'll be very attractive to employers...good luck!

FYI to one of your posters...I took plenty of marketing/advertising classes in order to get a BFA in Graphic Design. We know about the "big picture."
Reply:Yes, absolutely. I went from selling advertising, to writing copy and coming up with ideas for promos to now starting my own marketing firm.
Reply:YES! Unfortunately, creative designer types are usually horrible at looking at the "big picture". If you have skills in both, you can be very successful, just make sure to take enough classes to support the business aspect of marketing also. Marketing, communications, econ etc.

A model for advertising response is given by:where P (a) is the profit expressed as a function of the amount

P(a)=200-2a+10 ln a

optimal amount of advertising, a =

maximum profit, P =

A model for advertising response is given by:where P (a) is the profit expressed as a function of the amount
P(a) = 200 -2a + 10ln(a)

maximum profit is when dP/da = 0

dP/da = -2 + 10/a

so -2 + 10/a = 0

10/a = 2

2a = 10

a = 5

calculate P when a = 5

P(5) = 200 - 2(5) + 10ln(5)

=%26gt;200-10 + 10(1.609)

P(a) = 206.09

so optimal amount of advertising a = 5 and

Maximum profit, P = 206

How does internet advertising work? pay for clicks?

what is the difference between google and yahoo advertising products? is there another option?

How does internet advertising work? pay for clicks?
We used to spend a lot at Overture (which is now Yahoo) but we get much more bang for the buck at Google. Sign up at Google and pay per click, depending on the keywords you want...it should pay off. Overture/Yahoo is much more expensive because their minimum bid is 10 cents. At Google, that keyword you want may only be 5 cents. There are lots of other pay-per-click advertising sites available, but you only need to stick to Yahoo and/or Google. Those are the two that will really convert.
Reply:check out http://www.merchantcircle.com

They're not a Pay per Click advertiser but they do help small businesses by providing ways to advertise and build community involvement through referrals and endorsements.

I hope this helps.
Reply:Pay only if your ad gets click.then you will be ask your maximum bid per click is and then will charge you only the minimum that is necessary.
Reply:I don't think its by clicks! Advertising is just as it is. A company is posted on the yahoo/google what have you pages. Someone will see their advertisement and respond to it however they want. It's like an ad on a billboard on a highway its just there. Exposure you see it and that's all that counts. Some companies pay more so when you search for something their homepage shows up first!

What constitutes Soliciting/Advertising?

I had an answer removed. Someone asked for a good free work at home. I responded and YA took my answer off and sent me a violation notice. Since the person asked...my answer can't possibly be considered soliciting or advertising can it?

What constitutes Soliciting/Advertising?
Well, yes, obviously it could be. That is why they deleted it. You could tell the person HOW to find a site like that, or possibly post SEVERAL of those types of site, but just posting one like that, with no disclaimer, reads like advertising.

Sue company false advertising?

i used to work for a company that was an SEO (search engine optimization) the company had all of us telemarketers call random businesses all over the USA telling them if they signed up for our service we would be able to put them in the showcase position on yahoo and google. (((showcase means when you search on yahoo or google and your looking for a business... lets say a pet groomer...you would type in "pet groomer" and the first 3 listings you see are the showcase positions))) now what they really did was barely put them in the yahoo and google database where maybe if you went to page 4 or 5 you would see them....crazy huh? ya well i was wondering how i could get them in trouble to stop them from lying! could i sue them for false advertising? what is your opinion?

Sue company false advertising?
IF and a big IF you could get all of the old clients together to file a class action suit then they may be able to collect damages, but you would collect nothing seeing as how you were not harmed by t his in any way. So you would put a lot of time and effort in to just get to revenge on them, keep in mind though that it may be awkward for you to talk to the clients considering you were one of the ones that called around and ask them to sign up. I would just let it go. It's wrong that they did it, but trying to punish them will just make you miserable. You should however report them, so that they can not continue this practice. You can got to the Chamber of Commerce or the Better Business Bureau to see if there is anything they can do to shut them down. Good Luck.
Reply:No, you cannot personally sue them because you have not suffered any injury from their practices. However, you CAN file a complaint with your local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau.
Reply:You could report them to the attorney general. That's really about all you have, however a class action suit sounds in order for your previous clientele.
Reply:You can only sue someone if you are the injured party.
Reply:Not if you were, how shall i put this, unceremoniously discharged. Fired employees cannot sue their employee on the grounds of false advertising as the courts consider it a "vengeful allegation."

What is the advertising elasticity of demand for good x?

Suppose demand is given by

Q xd = 50 - 4Px + 6Py + Ax ,

where Px = $4,

Py = $2, and

Ax = $50.

What is the advertising elasticity of demand for good x?

a) 1.12.

b) 0.38.

c) 1.92.

d) 0.52.

What is the advertising elasticity of demand for good x?
d) .52

Elasticity of demand, put simply, is how we react to changes in prices. Typically, if the product is needed, then the demand is inelastic, and we are not affected by price changes. Other times we have more sensitivity to changes in prices and demand is more elastic.

You can measure demand elasticity by dividing the change of demand by the change in price, or delta Qxd/delta Ax. In this example, just solve for Qxd with Ax of $50 and again for, say, $100.

Note: (1) and (2) are usually written as subscripts.

Axd(1)=50

Axd(2)=100

Qxd(1)=50-4(4)+6(2)+50=96

Qxd(2)=50-4(4)+6(2)+100=146

delta Qxd=(Qxd(1)-Qxd(2))/Qxd(1)

delta Ax=(Ax(1)-Ax(2))/Ax(1)

delta Qxd/delta Ax

(96-146)/96

--------------- = .0520833

(50-100)/50

Job interview for advertising company?

i have applied for an internship with a well known advertising agency in my city. they say the interview will take the form of a presentation. can anyone offer any ideas on what to do or how this works? i know they are also going to ask me about my reasons for being in this field and will ask about my favourite ads as they have informed me about this. should i come up with an ad campaign selling myself to them, and if so, can anyone help in terms of how i could go about doing this and make it fun/exciting/interesting? thank you so much, your input will be highly valued and i will thank all of you if i get this internship!

Job interview for advertising company?
dude, if you can not come up with that stuff on your own then you have no business working at an ad agency. The entire point of them asking you to interview in this way is to see how creative you are. You can not apply to a creative position and then try to get other people to be creative for you.

Reply:Advertising is designed to appeal to peoples emotions and feelings. One shouldn't expect ads to convey much in the way of facts. This is especially true of political ads. They get you to buy things or support causes by appealing to your irrational and emotional side, and most of the time with most people, it works.

Freelance webdesign service advertising?

I'm a freelance web designer looking for some ways of advertising my services. I don't have my own website, so usually I show people the projects I've done recently. And I'm looking something like craigslist's free ads or any effective ways to attract people's attention.

Could you give me a piece of advice or some links?

Freelance webdesign service advertising?
I own a graphic design firm, and regularly use freelance folks. I cannot imagine hiring a freelance web designer who did not have at least some sort of minimal web site.

I've also hired off Craig's list. It's a cheap place to advertise, but you get tons and tons of responses that you have to blast through at high speed just to get through them all. A web site (or at least a link to a portfolio oriented web service) is essential.

Sorry, but when you tell me you're a web guy with no web site... that just sounds to me like you're not yet serious about what you're doing.

A piecemeal web site that has no viewer participation or says too much is of no use to anyone.

Great web sites are the ones that entice the viewer to want to know more through a series of "closes" leading to BUSINESS.

All up web sites that give everything rarely work.

I other thing if I may add. Always welcome the viewer to the site.

What kind of advertising message can drive medicine users closer to advertisers?

I'm talking about medical advertising.

What kind of advertising message can drive medicine users closer to advertisers?
A subliminal one will work marvels and near-miracles - but this type of advertisements are banned in most of the civilised countries !

Otherwise, saying 'the truth, whole truth, and nothing but the truth' works BEST in almost any kind of advertising.
Reply:One that people can relate to.

Depending upon the kind of medicine it is ie who it's meant for, that is who your message should be written to.

For instance, if it's arthritis medicine or some other "older person" ailment, write the ad specifically for them.

Also, have you ever used radio? It's great because you can really target your specific end user given the nature of the radio's format.

Hope this helps!

What affect does advertising have on children?

what do you think the affect will be on children who are exposed to levels of advertising and media that is directed at them from the age they can sit up?

What affect does advertising have on children?
Hello, they become "I Want's"
Reply:It makes things appealing to kids so they will bug their parents bug them to get them what they see on tv for them.
Reply:It will have a big effect on them and shape them into exactly what society demands. They will copy and try to become the fake people they see or hear around them on tv, magazines or radio. They will be manipulated into becoming as well as possessing anything that is considered "cool". For example how many little five yr girls do u see walking around in boots and mini skirts? and how many kids beg their parents to take them to maccas so they can collect the latest toy.

Especially because childhood is the most vulnerable period to a childs life, it has a much bigger effect compared to the less naive adults
Reply:The affect will be based on the level that they are exposed to.

Their personalities and their frame of mind about life will be influence based on the levels they are exposed to. And those influences will lead to actions that respond to it. And then the actions will have the support of the environment (parents, friends, peer groups, etc.).

You put it in their environment, it becomes a part of them.
Reply:My kids want everything they see on t.v. and they have been watching it all of their lives.

Can you tell me please what do they mean when they say next to shoes, men are a girls favorite accessory. Aagin this is what my ad states for trying to sell this tab energy drink. again is this a form of persuasive advertising and can you tell me what are they trying to say. It shows him carrying this womans bags and he really doesn't have enough arms to carry all of this

When using persuasive advertising acn you please tell me what does this mean, Next to shoes, men ae a girls?
I'm assuming this is for the new low-calorie Tab energy drink??

That ad is trivializing relationships by making the woman appear to be "so cool" that she doesn't even need a hot guy - she's using him as her little bag carrier. It's a very blase attitude towards men and trying to make it seem like "if you drink this, men will want to be your little slave, too." Is that persuasive? Who knows, advertising is actually quite a crock - the more I do it the less seriously I take it. Adverts are generally ignored and people think they're obnoxious. Do you want a boyfriend or a pathetic, mindless wimp? Doesn't persuade me!

The main technique used in ads is the utilization of sex appeal. It's not funny; witty; smart or interesting - sex is in-your-face and there's no question about what it is. The woman is beautiful (re: skinny...re: drink this low calorie beverage); on-the-go (oh wow, women are so multi-faceted, now they can shop ALL DAY without stopping if they drink this!); and somehow using the man in this way makes the woman the power figure in the relationship. So drink this liquid-Smarties crap and you, too, can be a powerful, man-eating shopaholic.
Reply:Paybacks a B****, isn't it? remeber those commercials that were originally just for women, but now they now have them for men too? Pretty offensive, and sexist. Report It

I am thinking about becomming an advertising designer?

i want to become an advertising designer and i wanted to meet someone that is already one to get info on it. such as what all would an advertising designer do? are you constantly on the computer? do you hand draw at all? for whom do you design for? how many hours do you work? did you go to a public school or an art school? would it be best for me to go to a private art school instead of public where your first two years are core classes? how much did you start off making?

i researched a lot, but i want to discuss it with someone.

I'm sure i forgot a bunch of other questions, so if you have any other extra information i'd love to know it. thanks!

I am thinking about becomming an advertising designer?
Those are all really good questions. Unfortunately, there is no single good answer. To start with, do research on the programs offered at different schools. You want to find a program that is specific to your interests. Many public schools only offer a general bachelor of fine arts degree. But some have a graphic design, visual communication, or similar type of degree. The nice thing about private art schools is that they are very focused on teaching you the things you need to know to do the job upon graduation. The downside is that they are usually more expensive. You will also have a choice of if you want to get a bachelor's degree or an associate's degree. Again, research the options and see what seems a good fit for you.

As far as what an advertising designer does, depends on where you end up working. The structure of the organization will make huge difference as to what your responsibilities will be. Your college experience may also make a difference. Some programs give you more expertise in certain areas than others. Also, the client base will make a difference. At a larger agency, an entry level designer will, in general, be responsible for smaller, lower important projects. Your involvement in the entire creative process will be minimal. For the most part, you will be taking direction from a creative director or art director. The types of projects you work on can vary greatly also, depending on the agency you work for. It can be all kinds of print pieces, from brochures, catalogs and mailers to stationery and invitations to billboards, newspaper and magazine ads. It can be website design or av/multimedia production. It really all depends on what the client's needs are and what the agency's range of expertise includes.

Much of the work done by advertising designers is on the computer these days. Some do some drawing, but often any real illustration is hired out to an illustrator. Sometimes you may get to do a bit of photography. But again, that is usually hired out to a photographer. Depending on the position you get, you may or may not be able to be involved in the direction of those outside professionals.

You could also get a job in a marketing department of a corporation. If that's the case, the only client you have is your employer. So everything you do is for the same thing. The variety of an agency experience can be more interesting for some people, while it can be too hectic a pace for others.

Another option would be to freelance. The upside is that you make your own hours, set your own rates and no one but your client to answer to. The downside is that there is all the paperwork, taxes, etc. Yucky stuff that we designers are not necessarily good at. We'd rather be using our creative mind.

How many hours you work also depends on what position you end up with. There are full-time and part-time jobs available. And again, if you freelance you can work as much or as little as you want. Be forewarned -- if you have a full-time salaried position with an ad agency, be prepared to put in a lot of hours without extra pay. The nature of the work is that you get it done to meet your deadline. And if that means putting in an extra 10 or 20 hours a week, then that's what you do.

Hmmmm.... did I answer all your questions? Feel free to email me if you have others (I think I have it set up so you can).

Best wishes on your future endeavors. It sounds like you're trying to thoroughly research your options instead of just jumping in. That's great! You should do well.

Is there an advertising website where I can...?
When I started my business with very little money for advertisement I got really creative. There plenty of things you can do to promote a business that cost very little or nothing.

I also suggest reading a book call "Guerrilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson. Also google that title and you'll come up with some interesting things.

Good luck.

Other real estate advertising?

Here in the Hudson Valley NY realtors are charging 6% for listing a house.I'm in the process of purchasing a handyman property.with all said and done a good portion of profit would be taken by them if I go that route. Does anyone have any creative ways of advertising to get the most out of my investment?

Thanks

Other real estate advertising?
A good Realtor.

You can try FSBO. You can advertise it on one of many many many FSBO sights that few will every see other than real estate agents looking for leads and other FSBO looking for ideas. Most buyers aren't comfortable going it alone and the ones that are are only looking for the bottom line best deal, and those buyers usually have experience buying homes. If you are trying to flip a house that is not who you want to market to.

The most important thing a real estate agent does in market your home, getting it seen by as many as possible. Realtors will have their homes posted on Realtor.com through their MLS. They will also have their own sights, other marketing circles as well as customers looking to work with a real estate agent.

Most people looking for a home will go to Realtor.com. Being a FSBO you won't be there. Another issue is when you home is listed on an MLS other agents will be able to sell it. Instead of just you selling it you have all the local real estate agents in your area that can sell it.
Reply:You may also try to advertise your real estate website to real estate forums.

Where are the opportunities for Free Advertising?
I'm not sure I completely understood your question, do you want to get free advertising for your company, or do you want to give free advertising for some other gain in your organization? What type of products or services are you looking to promote?

I don't know that there really is such a thing as free advertising, but there are certainly a lot of advertising routes that require less overhead but more work. The best free advertising comes from networking with other professionals and organizations, as well as grass roots types of things such as hosting or speaking at events.

Other than that, your options are to post to free websites such as craigslist.org in various areas that you would like to create awareness.

1) You need to create your cooperate identity with a custom embroidery company. Create your logo and business name on your cooperate apparel.

2) Put the logo on your Auto

3) Make up business cards and hand them out. Every time you see someone you know hand several of them out. When you give people your business card, always give them more than one and ask them to give them to their friends/coworkers, etc. Print up flyers and post them on public boards if there are any near you and post in a forums that related to your location if there are any!

4) The key for this kind of business is word-of-mouth. Think of some clever ways to encourage your existing clients to tell people about you. Perhaps you could start with a friend or family member to be one of your "spokesperson". I owned a convenience store for 10 years and a lot of business deals started in the checkout line by strangers. Tell everyone about you and ask if they know anyone that could use your service. Ask for a referral from an existing client

5) Start a website as a way to advertise you. Let your website work for you and your clients swap links. When making your own web site do some research on how to optimize your site so that you get a good ranking with a natural search. You do this by embedding smart key words. Your website could show your community involvement and you could have questions and answers on the site.

6) Look for websites that you can advertise for free. Advertise in the Yahoo local. Find free on-line classified web sites for your community. Typically the local chamber of commerce will offer such a service. You can advertise here for free: http://www.hits2u.com/?149843

7) A Yellow page ad seems to work great also.

8) Try to get your local newspaper to do a free article on your business.

9) Sponsor local sport teams or ballparks that hang up banners. There are also inexpensive ways to advertise like a local penny saver newspaper, high school yearbooks and newspapers, etc.

10) Call radio show call in and contest and always answer or make the statement with "your name and company name and you have been working hard" free radio ads are great.

11) Telemarketing

Help!!! i need advertising tips?

can someone please give me tips on advertising dog food and what sort of thins do people like about dod food

Help!!! i need advertising tips?
Will your consumers be people or dogs? People spend money on dog food depending on what brand their pets eat. It's obvious when a pet is a picky eater. Also, healths of their pets also influence what kind of dog food they'll purchase for their pet.

I all ways imagined an commercial where the Mom chops, mixes, pours and whips up this amazing meal for their family with lots of love and attention. Then goes into a dark ugly room and pulls a cup of dry brown dog food and slaps it on their dog’s plate. A real contrast....

Then a voice/commentator (like the Ikea commercials) says "Dogs are people too with real task buds. We at DOG FOOD love your dog enough to place extra care in the ingredients so you don't have to. But your dog will credit their happy bellies to you."
Reply:We pick our dog food by the type and whether our dogs like it (how much of it they eat).

Pookie get lite small bites. Maggie get high energy small bites.
Reply:Price is always important for the buyer, but at least as important is whether their dog likes it.

Tout the flavors and scents it may have; paint a mental picture for the buyer so they can envision something they think their dog would like.

Possibly most important is the health of people's pooches, so tout heavily what your food can do for dogs' health, life expectancy, etc.

If you're looking to use images or video, find the most popularly owned dogs (probably labs or golden retrievers).
Reply:I'd like to give you some advices but how can I expalain it :)
Reply:i stopped eating it

Limit junk food advertising? What happened to parental responsibility and excersise to fight obesity?

Health groups want to ban advertising for junk food to fight obesity. What happened to parents regulating what their kids eat, and promoting excersise. When I was a boy, we had candy, McDonalds, Coca Cola, chips, crisps and all manner of junk food, we had Atari and intellivision game consoles, but none of my friends or myself were obese, because when the sun shined my butt was outside, sport was promoted, and we ate home cooked meals, even with both parents working. Is society really at a state where big brother has to tell us what to eat so we don't get fat. Do people really not care about the welfare and health of their children? People all shout about their freedom, but then they whine about junkfood adverts when there kids are fat, shouldn't they have a look in the mirror, when looking for someone to blame.

Limit junk food advertising? What happened to parental responsibility and excersise to fight obesity?
Welcome to the society that takes no responsibility for what it does. Next thing you know they will be banning the sell of junk food. I hate to argue but my stomach needs as much calories as it can get. I think people have forgotten that with freedom comes responsibilities. I blame it on bad Lawyers, that twist the constitution to win any case, and the news media adding fuel to the "blame it on someone else" game. Well I'll get off the soap box now. Thanks for the question.
Reply:I'm not obese, but I'm not slim either and I know if I went to the gym more often and didn't have my takeaway on a friday night, I would be slim. I do eat mostly fesh home cooked foods, However, I also know that when I have kids of my own I will get them to cook fresh food with me, teach them what to eat and that takeaways are treats (just as they are for me) and also get them to get involved in school team sports or other activities so that they don't simply exsist to go to school, come home, eat and play on their PS2 like so many kids do.

It's about attitude and encouragement and education
Reply:I remember when i was a kid, mcdonalds or similar was an occasional treat, and its not so bad as an occasional treat. The problem arises when parents become to lazy to cook a ballanced meal and just buy maccys because its an easy option.

Despite many people claiming that their size is genetic or medical, it comes down to one thing. people are eating more calories than they are using up.

Kids today are far lazier than in my day, part of it is the current yob culture, and fear of paedophiles etc, but how hard is it to take your child to the park to ride a bike go for as walk or anything remotley physical. Kids are discouraged from participating in sports because it may upset whoever doesnt win. We are producing a generation that is unskilled, uneducated and unconcerned with anyone but themselves.

In a world where everyone knows their rights but not how to respect the rights of others, nothing will change until common sense prevails.
Reply:i suppose the answer really is parents need to learn to say no.

although if you've noticed the junk food companies play on parents insecurities about food. for example they'll promote addive filled, high sugar cereal by emphasizing its got added iron, the parent worries that their child isnt eating iron rich food and therfore buys it.

its a simple message that needs to be passed from parent to child, eat all fatty and sugary things in moderation, but then again its the adults who eat more junk than the kids.

another problem is that no one cooks anymore, if people are busy whats wrong with cooking pasta or a chicken and veg stir fry? its hardly rocket science. lazy buggers!!!!!!
Reply:People just don't care until it's too late. As time goes by, Parent's stop teaching their children about the important things in life. They would rather give the kids what they want, rather than give the kids what they need.
Reply:it's all about attitude. there are parents who eat at macdonalds themselves. how can they tell their kids not to?
Reply:As a parent, I try to give my kids good examples but it is hard when they are also being influenced by their friends at school. It is also difficult when they see their heros, like Gary Liniker, advertising junk food. Having said that, my son loves making and drinking smoothies with me but, unfortunately, not the clearing up afterwards. I do look in the mirror, I have a healthy BMI of 19 or 20, so don't accuse all of us of not eating healthily ourselves!!
Reply:in my opinion parental responsibility went out the window a long time ago. seems like the parents in this world expect everyone else to watch and take care of their kids for them.
Reply:What we need is the equivalent of "TRUTH" ads for junk food. I really think this would lower the number of obese people in the US. Eating junk all the time is just as bad for a person as smoking is after all. I love it when I see a fat person telling someone else that smoking is bad for them lol. It is really an interesting phenomenon that people have so little self control. They just want what feels good in the moment. I really don't think junk food ads should be limited though, although they do it for cigarettes (which I don't think they should). Banning any kind of media or information is a terrible thing.

Is this False Advertising?

Is this false advertising?

I purchased A major brand razor. the box says it comes with 1 razor and 2 refills. After opening the box it actually only contains one blade on the razor and one refill. The manufacturer's defense is that the handle is called a razor and the refill's are the one on the "razor" and the one in the box. Now. my issue is that if I go to a pharmacist and ask them to "refill" my prescription I would have to have an initial prescription to refill.. same goes with the razor how can it come with 2 refills when there was no initial blade to "re"fill (or if you consider the one affixed to the "razor" as the initial blade there is only really one refill). Also this brand name does not have the word razor in it anywhere relating to its product. although Im sure the manufacturer would give a coupon for refills if you call and complain as its "guarunteed" they are still makeing off on the millions of these they probably sell that people dont even think of it..

Is this False Advertising?
Essentially you need to go back to Mr. Gillette who made razors and gave them away free you had to buy the blades.

Today with the new razors you have the handle which is the razor and the blades are the refills which must be attached to the handle to complete the instrument. therefore you have to buy razor blades and not new razors each time you wish to shave.

It is just a conceptual answer.
Reply:What you know to be true is sometimes very difficult to prove. If you can not prove that what you know is true,,then it remains as it was. You must bear the burden of proof. Your OPINION carries no weight at all.
Reply:That sucks! i don't think you can really do anything about it though. Those blades a freaking expensive too! good luck and don't cut yourself shaving!
Reply:This is what needs to be forwarded to the Better Business Bureau. These are the things they follow up on, and it's where you make your complaint to.

Here's the site.
Reply:I don't think its false advertising its however pretty sly on their part and bad marketing as you see how it affected you... you probably won't buy one of their products again...

So If I operated this particular company I would say look this could be a back lash lets spend the extra 15 million per year and give out 3 blades 2 refills and one attached to the razor..

I guess vote for me for CEO? :)

What is the average percentage of advertising space in a magazine? and does it work?

total number of pages versus total number of advertising pages.... how much impact does advertising actually have for a start-up business? what are average costs? are contracts involved or is it just done on a publication to publication basis?

What is the average percentage of advertising space in a magazine? and does it work?
actually I read that is about 75% ads on a magazine, however for a business is good to have not all advertising, but clever and enough advertising that gets the attention of people. The costs I can't tell you for sure, but is usually really expensive, I guess in a magazine is done with a contract between major and magazine reps and small magazines or places is usually on publication by publication basis.
Reply:depends on what you are selling and how effectively you targeted your market. For instance, advertising lipstick in a magazine geared for 60 year old businessmen probably isn't going to yield much action for you, no matter how many times you advertise or how good your graphic layout is. Target your market. Call a lot of magazines you are interested in and ask for their media kits. Those will give you that magazines circulation and their demographics--who reads their magazine, how much disposable income they have, their education level. It's a sophisticated packet of information that helps you see if it is reflective of your target audience.
Reply:Totally dependent upon the magazine...some mags are almost nothing but ads, other are short on ads and long on articles. I suppose the average is about 50/50.

Cost of advertising in a mag is dependent upon circulation numbers, and at the descretion of the mag. The more popular the magazine, the higher the ad space. A single shot ad will cost considerably more that a contract for say, 3 issues, 6 issues, 12 issues, etc. As a rule, it takes at least 3 runnings of the ad in issues before anything starts to happen. .. if it is going to happen. Just because you put in an ad does not mean it will be effective. You must pay for placement (the right hand page, when the mag is open) is more readable, and therefore more expensive than the left hand page. Various placement cost varying amounts, with varying effectiveness. You need to get a firm grip on what you are doing before you spend this kind of money. Perhaps, investing in your interenet site would be a more productive means of getting the word out. Placement in search engines is everything...page one or die!

Are there any advertising agencies providing internships?

I'm an EU undergraduate in Psychology and I'd like to have my internship in an international advertising agency based in the UK.

Are there any advertising agencies providing internships?
Talk to a marketing advisor at your school. This isn't a great site for networking. Networking should take place with people you can build relationships with.
Reply:It's abit difficult seeing that your background is Psychology because they usually take Communications students in for internship but you can always try mailing/contacting all the agencies because they are always looking for interns.
Reply:Absolutely, but the work will be brutal. Pick up the phone and call. Just ask the receptionist you want to speak to someone about internships, but have a resume ready, even if it just lists volunteer work and school. Good luck and have fun!

What is the most effective website advertising?

I need help finding Good website advertising for a decent Price.

I own www.midnightfairyinc.com where I distribute handcrafted bath %26amp; body products. I need info on where I can get good advertising.

What has worked for you?

What is the most effective website advertising?
I would suggest you check out one of the comparison shopping websites like www.shopzilla.com. You can list your products on these sites and update your inventory regularly. Shopzilla charges you on a per-click basis.

The power of a comparison shopping website is that they have a huge audience reach and users are much more qualified than if they are on Google AdSense for example (they are more qualified because it IS a shopping website, whereas Google searches can be doing many other things than shopping - looking for information, surfing, etc).

Once you get into it and run your product for a while, you can figure out which ones are selling the best. Shopzilla offers a conversion tracker (basically it tells you how much commission you pay per product sold) which will allow you to optimize how you spend money and ultimately drive more qualified sales.

Good luck!
Reply:The best web advertising is a picture of a beautiful womans naked breast.

I hope that helps.
Reply:Google adsense. They will place ads on a variety of sites (including their own) that relate to your company. Also they will come up in google when you search for keywords that you can choose. Very effective, and you have the option of only paying them when someone actually clicks on your ad. Check it out: https://www.google.com/adsense/
Reply:I use free classified advertising and it works. I also use press releases and write articles.

http://www.preferredpromoz.com/adlandpro...
Reply:I don't pay anything for my kind of advertising

I write articles and submit them to high traffic article directories, with a link in my sig

I send my website to many upon many of website directories with a decent google PR

I post in forums related to my site, with a link in my signature file

I have a blog for my site where I update every day with new content and ping with pingoat

If you want to pay for advertising you could try something like Google Adwords, but you have to learn how to do it right

good luck
Reply:I found an incredible book at the library called "Marketing Without Money" by Nicholas E Bade. The book presents 300 tips on advertising, online and offline. Pardon the library pun but "check it out."

Dissertation ideas on advertising / suggested routes and topics / websites?

Any creatives / advertisers / students out there...

My dissertation is comparing traditional and non-traditional forms of advertising.

Any views?

Dissertation ideas on advertising / suggested routes and topics / websites?
Advertising aimed at children has become increasingly controversial and legislated. Why not study the ways advertising has evolved when targeting children and why it has become so controversial? It is an important current issue for many people in British society and therefore you can argue the importance of your study as well.

Do your research, back everything up and I'm sure you have a very valid thesis there!
Reply:traditional is for soap powder etc,

the rest MUST have humour
Reply:As far as non-traditional forms of advertising, you should check out marketingvox.com it has tons of great articles about online/e-marketing.
Reply:Here you'll find a lot of papers on ADVERTISING:

Also you can order CUSTOM research there or exchange YOUR papers: http://www.coursework4you.co.uk/
Reply:I'm studying graphic design, one of the titles I was researching was "how the introduction and development of the Internet has affected the advertising industry".

Looking into advertising before the Internet, forms and how affective and now advertising after the Internet, forms and how people react. i.e. pop ups and pop unders are advertising but never get looked at! just too annoying! And Spam emails etc.

You could look at company's profits and turnover with traditional methods and compare this to new age companys and their turnover. You will need to bear in mind that people may have for seen the changes and compensated, but some will have gone under because of this. You'll need to talk to established advertising companys that have been around through the changes and people who are willing to tell you about their company and be honest.

It's got a lot f mileage and too much I thought for my 5000 words, but you may think you can condense it if you have 5000 to do.

Good luck, and it's not actually that bad, I enjoyed mine and got a good grade for it!
Reply:Oh how I dont miss doing this. I dont know much about traditional and non-traditional advertising. But something that I think would be interesting to talk about is how people are selling their body parts as advertising space. I guess that is non-traditional.

Why is Thompsons advertising in Travel, on Answers?

Are Thompsons conducting some sort of holiday/shopping survey? I didn't think advertising was allowed on answers. Feel free to comment, especially if you work for Thompsons.

What are some really good, inexpensive ADVERTISING ideas for a new Realtor in Charlotte NC or anywhere?

If you are an experienced REALTOR who has had much advertising success, please help me with some good sound advise and ideas! Also If you have good valuable tips for what not to do when advertising b/c its a waste of time, I'm all ears.

Thanks.

What are some really good, inexpensive ADVERTISING ideas for a new Realtor in Charlotte NC or anywhere?
my friend i have the perfect website for you. it includes over 1000 links to free advertising websites including free directories, free search engine submissions, free viral marketing, free top keywords and much much more

http://www.freeaddsgalore.me.uk

investing in the big daddy search engine and program hoppers will prove very profitable
Reply:you need to do things differently then everyone else. running ads in local newspapers and in real estate magazines are nice ideas and they could work but they may not be as cheap as you would like. want a new idea. something that will set you apart from most check out www.evideoforfunandprofit.com there is a lot you will be able to do with this program. including creating your own virtual tours.

lastly, create a sphere of influence this is a list of everyone you know and let them know you are in real estate. a referral is the best and cheapest business you can get. but don't stop there keep adding everyone you meet to your list and keep sending them good and useful information (not cooking recipes) and if you can get there email addresses you can combine it with the first idea and it will cost you nothing to do!

good luck
Reply:Create a free web page with yahoo geocities. Put a listing in the phone book or send out postcards.
Reply:Yours local community newspaper which they publish free advertising and distribute their news paper free to community.
Reply:Life is becoming faster %26amp; faster, nobody has time to visit to your site.No matter how great the products you're selling are, people aren't going to beat a path to your door to get them. You need to bring the products to the customers. So DIRECT marketing is the BEST strategy.(I am also following the same)

Reply:You NEED to get a website. The NAR put out a study in 2005 saying that the use of the Internet to search for a home has risen from 2% in 1995 to 77% in 2005 and agents with websites has increased 129% over the past 5 years. It also said that In terms of lead generation, only referrals and repeat clients rank above the Internet as the most effective methods of gaining new business.

Unfortunately the real estate industry is a little bit behind in marketing themselves online, so having a website that displays the MLS data with an integrated IDX feed is probably your best bet to beat the competition. Especially since most of the real estate being sold is being done so by the newly established realtors who have mastered online marketing.

Some good website design companies are http://www.bayshoresolutions.com or http://www.13avenue.com

But the real kicker is being able to display MLS listings on your site and integrate search tools using an IDX feed. IDX Broker is definitely a superior product: http://www.idxbroker.com

Good luck!
Reply:Hi,

I'm a REALTOR in Arizona and have found ActiveRain http://activerain.com/action/referrals/t... to be a great source of business. It is an online community of real estate agents across the country. Best of all, it is free.

Choose a domain name that reflects what you do. Put it on everything and use it in your signature line on your email.

Offer to sit open houses for other agents in your office.

Get a point2agent website which is also free and will automatically set you up with listings to advertise. You can contact me and I will provide you with a free one http://www.AZHomeBuyerHelp.com

Choose a geographical farm and start sending information on the real estate market to those who live in the neighborhood.

Good Luck.

Word of mouth advertising?

Hi I'm getting a few hunderd hits a day at my website which is good but I can seem to get it to increase. People have told me that word of mouth is the best advertising you will ever get but how do you go about it?

The Website http://www.monstermall.org if you like the site don't forget to tell tyour friends.

Word of mouth advertising?
Word of Mouth (Word of Mouse when talking about Internet advertising) is one of the best ways of increasing your sales. It works by people talking positive remarks about your product.

Word of Mouth can either make or break your business.

In any way that you displease them your customers, you are most likely to ruin your reputation. Experts say that Negative Word of Mouth spreads faster than Positive Word of Mouth.

It is only proper to say that you have to satisfy your customers first before you can use this method of advertising. Otherwise, all will be in vain.

There are other methods of free advertising though. You can try promoting your products in online forums and social networks and bookmarking sites. You can also use article marketing and email marketing. These methods are some of the cost efficient ways of advertising.

How important is advertising to a 12 month old retail business?

started a traditional sweet shop 12 months ago, with front page newspaper advert. did quite well but trade dropped off in the summer and is not as good as this time last year. Could advertising turn this around or was novelty value a key factor when the business was new?

How important is advertising to a 12 month old retail business?
Advertising is important- whether you are a 12 months old business or a 10 year business.

You should constantly be looking to increase your profit and getting the word out about you. Even mircosoft advertise and look how long they have been going for.
Reply:Sweet shop.. is a sweet shop..just like any other .unless you got more to offer ..it is pointless to advertise..your type of business can't rely on locals alone..you also need a lot of passing trade..
Reply:Now is a good time to advertise again. I know I sometimes forget about certain businesses, especially those I don't patronize often. Put the word out and business is sure to pick up, especially this time of year.
Reply:oh yeah, always important, could also do some gimmics like go out into the streets with your company name on a t-shirt / coat, dressed up all olde fashioned and offer your wares to the public as a little taster. look into doing roast chestnuts outside again dressed up in olde attire to get your public rushing to you, erm do special gift boxies for christmas and do it in the style that the era that your shop is from. a little research on the tinternet can bring a load of things about how the sweets were wrapped up etc. and do that as a novelty as young will think it's brilliant and the older will think that they a nice nostalgic trip down memory lane
Reply:Advertising is crucial, there's no reason why your business should not do well but people have to know you're there.
Reply:Retail operations usually do 2/3s of their business in the last quarter. Now is the time to advertise.Things will slow down again in mid January. You have to. The reason business is not as good as this time last year is because you are not advertising.
Reply:Reminding people of your service is extremely important. You have to let people know you have something to offer and that if they want sweets, yours is the shop to visit.

How can they know without advertising?
Reply:Have a look at some of the articles in the advertising section of http://www.hammocksurvivalguide.com/
Reply:Well..you can catalog your goods yourself and save tons of money. If you have a digital camera, take pics and get going on it! I do this for mine and it worked wonders for business!
Reply:If you've got a local free paper do a promotion in there (it's cheaper than a paying newspaper usually), something along the lines of a free goodie bag if they spend over x amount or bring in voucher for free item (specified selection). That'll get em in. You just need to make sure that once they're in they want to spend. Exterior of the shop needs to draw people in. Once inside you need to have a good selection to give people choice and lots of offers. If you give good value or have something unique people will spend and they'll come back and they'll also do your promotion for you by telling people - word of mouth is crucial to any business.

There's loads of stuff you can do but without knowing all the facts I can't help that much.
