2142 In-Game Advertising?

Battlefield 2142 is to have in-game advertising. Do you think there should be two versions of the game - a free game with adverts, and a paid for game without adverts?

Adverts will be delivered electronically according to your IP address - in other words, your geographical location.

Isn't paying for the game enough for EA Games?

2142 In-Game Advertising?
No, because too many people pirate the games. Developing these games is not free, it takes a lot of resources, so either accept the advertising or get ready to pay even more for the games. As for the ads, all they are billboard ads within the game, like if you are fighting in a city instead of just having generic billboards around they will have actually ads on them, not that big of a deal.
Reply:whoever said something about pirating this game, its not that big of a deal with 2142. you cannot create a new account without having a valid cdkey from EA. so pirating a game like this is only good for playing on a local LAN. 'pretty useless if you ask me. Report It

Reply:i have seen alot of advertising in games recently from ghost recons nokia ads to Airwaves in splintercell. if these ads are going to cover development costs to improve games and dont interfere with game play i dont really have a problem .As for ads delivered to ip addresses would that not be a logistical nightmare and end up costing more for developers?
Reply:do you mean like a blipvert, just as you get involved in the action an ad pops up, or do they run on startup and shutdown. either way you are paying for content you dont want plus ea are getting paid by the advertisers and the game buyer, how greedy is that.whats to stop ea selling your address to over companies.the adverts would annoy me so i,d pay for an advert free game , interesting though.
