Could I be sued for advertising my business on a web site that does not allow this? I have been warned and now

I advertised my website on another web site, however, the rules of the site allowed members to post a URL of their home page on the author page. I posted info about my site on member comments, etc. I was warned about this, and now am worried that when my web business does open in a few weeks, I may be in for litigation. Should I be concerned? I have stopped all advertising on that site.





I could really use some legal advice, or someone who is experienced with online businesses laws, or marketing.





I have a lot of experience with IT, Gardening, Fish, Art, Writing, etc in exchange for answer. In addition, scholarship links, and to grants, building a backyard habitat and so on.

Websites do not typically sue a user just because they violated a few rules -- especially one that does not involve monetary losses on the part of the other website.





You simply advertised on a page you are not allowed to put your URLs -- if you cheated the advertisers to the tune of hundreds of thousands, then that's the time to worry.





The worst they can do to you is to ban you from using said site.





Be careful when posting your URL and advertising on sites. Read carefully what you can do and cannot do when using the site.
Reply:Whoever warned you---email them back and let them know it will not happen again. Get everything out in the open. Keep your emails for later if something comes up.
Reply:why don't you write to the webmaster of the other site and ask them to remove your post as you now realize you may have violated their terms of posting. They will probably rather do that than sue you.
Reply:If you were warned and you stopped then it should be over.
Reply:The other Top Contributor's response is appropriate in your case. Nevertheless if your link solicits a product drastically different than the theme of the directory, then you would have grounds to ignore the warning. Again, the worst case scenario is simply receiving a request that you no longer are invited to respond or communicate on the website.
