Marketing degree or advertising degree?

Are there any major differences between the two? Could I get a job in advertising with a Bachelors degree in marketing? Thanks.

Marketing degree or advertising degree?
Short answer is that there is a major difference.

Marketing is a much broader area which includes advertising as one of its MANY functions. Having said that, you definitely can get an advertising job with a marketing degree... As a matter of fact, having worked for multinational agencies (Leo Burnett/Ogilvy/MindShare) for more than 10 years, I cannot recall a single colleague whose degree was in advertising... including myself!

Hope this helps!
Reply:Marketing is going to be more broad of a degree which means you will have better chances in getting a job.. if you go for Adv. your options will be narrower.

and yes you can get a job in ad. with a marketing degree
Reply:Marketing is the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service.

Advertising is the action of calling something to the attention of the public especially by paid announcements and the business of preparing advertisements for publication or broadcast.

You can get a job in advertising with a Marketing degree. I suggest to you to become an intern in college in both fields and decide which you field you prefer.
