How does advertising manipulate people?

ive been working about this research paper at school for a quite some time now and i can't seem to find any source that would fit the points i am raising. I mean, i found some but i want more sources to support my stand. I hope you can give me your own opinions or url of the sources related to this.

these are my main points:

1. adevrtising manipulate people's individual activity and social interaction.

2. they broadcast excessive advertisments that lacks information and is intrusive.

3. Advertising demeans and corrupts culture.

im really looking forward for your informative replies. Thank you so much for the help. I would really appreciate it.

You should really take a look at Wikipedia - most every article on advertising technique will include counterpoints which may be of use to you in writing your paper.

What does a sheep think of the sheepdog.
Reply:I think this is interesting. First I would advise you not to use wikipedia for a research paper seeing as how anybody can post content there. Make you sure you double check everything you find out.

Advetising in my opinion is two-fold.

People advertise to bring attention to there products or services, to create a want or need for that product. However a lot of advertisements are blown way out of porportion. They offer a free this or a half of that or a you must buy this, then the person does and is dissappointed to find out that the product or service wasn't what the ad said it would be. For instance an advertisement for a directory service screamed out, place your business profile on our site and get listed in another state for free. However they didn't reveal the fact that you would have to place two profiles in order to get that free listing.
Reply:.Advertising influences the choices we make. It creates a need on a product or service and that leads to a purchase
