Where can I find free advertising for my internet store?

I have just started an internet store and have zero advertising money. Does anyone have ideas on free advertising to attract buyers to my store?

Where can I find free advertising for my internet store?
Create Banner ads to post on other websites that will allow you to promote your site there as well as getting their link on your site with use of their own banner ad as well...great way of networking and yes you could both make monies off of clicks to each other's site. You could network yourself and others through a creative "favorite links page" where you'll be able to display other sites' ads on your site. That's what I'm doing! Takes time...but after your first year, you'll be glad you did this...it helps...you'll need to do some researching on your own to figure out how to make monies using other websites links on your site...depends on the market.
Reply:Try to get some local coverage from small newspapers. They might be interested in doing a feature story on your business. You should write up a brief press release telling them the basics about your online site. Include any interesting details about yourself: Are you a native, unusual hobbies, unusual products...

Good luck.
Reply:It's funny how people suggest "Get your local paper to write an article about you" Has anyone who ever suggested that idea, ever had that done?

The best free advertising in my experience is craigslist.org %26amp; myspace.com, perhaps you can scratch up enough sales to do some better advertising, but if you don't have any money you're going to have to claw out and spend hours posting free ads, most of which may never get clicked on.

It's a tough world, internet advertising, but that's why we're looking to change things. Search engines are all corporate now, Mom and Pop Businesses can't sniff any real results unless their business is such a narrow category with little competition. That's just my opinion.
Reply:Trade links with other internet stores...., start a blog at myspace that is an informational, yet entertaining blog about the products you sell and search there for "friends" to invite that you can market your products to.... Good Luck!

You want to also optimize your website for the search engines and try to get all the free traffic from it you can. Pick one phrase that describes your product and place it in your page title. You are going to want to repeat this phrase in the page description, keywords and scatter it throughout the body copy.

After that build links to your website using that keyword phrase in your link text. Once you have sites linking back to your website for the keywords you optimize it for, you'll gain rankings in the search engines and get free traffic.
