How much advertising is allowed on commercial TV in the UK?

I find that the terrestrial channels seem to show much less than the channels shown by cable or satellite - where I have recorded over 20 minutes of advertising over the duration of an hour long slot

Too much!!!! ;0)
Reply:We do seem to get more adverts than programmes these days
Reply:Far to much
Reply:I'm not sure but I think that it is 9 minutes per hour. This seems about right because if you watch 'Countdown' on Channel 4 as it is broadcast it is a 45 minute programme but if you watch the same programme on 4 on Demand (where the adverts are missed out) then it only lasts 37 minutes, ie:- 8 minutes shorter.
