PLEASE HELP: Traditional vs non-traditional forms of advertising?

PLEASE HELP: Traditional vs non-traditional forms of advertising?

My dissertation is, in part, comparing traditional and non-traditional advertising practices.

Specifically, I'm looing at the wor of Banksy, and showing how agencies could use the urban landscape as an advertising medium.

Discussion and comments welcomed...

PLEASE HELP: Traditional vs non-traditional forms of advertising?
Watch this program called The Persuaders. The subway ad mention prior is shown here. It also touches on the fact that advertisers are integrating traditional and non-traditional mediums (including product placements in movies/tv shows)

Reply:Are you including anything about viral marketing? It's a great topic.
Reply:Banksy's approach of giving creative personal touch to the urban environment can be used in advertising, but you better check legal implications before trying it in a big scale campaign.

I was told about an ad for running shoes in a subway - somewhere in south America - completely legal - the walls from one station to the other were painted with frames of a runner - when the train accelerates it looks like the guy is running alongside.

I have seen writing a brand name in the sky - does not work in windy days though; Also, in Europe some buildings on the main traffic areas are used as big billboards.

The main idea is to have bigger, visible and memorable 'interrupt' in the environment that will catch attention.

Good luck with your thesis
Reply:An advertising agency placed a recruitment advert. in local papers calling people for walking interviews. It gave venue and time for the interview. This is traditional advertising. Rival ad agency sent their man at the venue of interview and gave a rose and their visiting card to the candidates who had responded to the advert. Back of the card said - This rose is to congratulate you, in case you get the job here. In case you don't get the job, it is the invitation to come and talk to us on the address behind. This is non - traditional advertising. Extrapolate this to substantiate your point of urban landscape.
