Why are we subjected to Advertising on Foxtel. We pay high rates to watch adverts.?

I subscribe to Foxtel and it won't be for much longer if the Advertising keeps increasing. It costs me over $70.00 per month to watch increasing Advertising. Why is that so?

Why are we subjected to Advertising on Foxtel. We pay high rates to watch adverts.?
Most of the advertising on foxtel is for t.v programs. The rest of the ads supply them with money to purchase more sitcoms for them to show.

But i agree with you its crazy stupid.
Reply:once upon a time cable was commercial free

then someone said "we can make MORE MONEY!"
Reply:I wrote to foxtel and complained about the constant bombarding of commercial advertising and below is there response, and a poor one at that....

Dear Robert

Thank you for your continued subscription to FOXTEL. I appreciate your loyalty over the last 3 years that you have been a FOXTEL subscriber and hope that you are enjoying the great channels available via FOXTEL Digital.

I understand you have concerns in relation to advertising on FOXTEL and I am grateful for your feedback. We are committed to providing the best programming selections and to continue investing in local television production. Revenue from advertising helps us to support the cost of quality future programming and production, and ensures our continued investment in the FOXTEL Digital service.

We aim to place our advertisements so that interruptions to programs are kept to a minimum. Each of the FOXTEL channels treats advertising differently. Most importantly, the majority of the movie channels do not break into features for advertising. We realise that uninterrupted movies are valued by our subscribers and do not compromise those services with advertisements.

Mid program promotions are designed to fill in edited gaps on channels which transmit to us in this format. However, in the case of series programming, we find that the majority are filmed and supplied to us with breaks already in place. We broadcast commercials and cross-promotion to fill these breaks.

Your feedback is of great value. It helps to ensure we continue to provide a superior product. I have forwarded your concerns to our Programming and Marketing Departments who are always pleased to receive all input. It is only through customer feedback that we can embark on a continuous process of quality improvement.

I hope that I have been able to address your concerns and that you continue to enjoy the benefits of your FOXTEL service. However, if you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). ACMA’s contact details are available at www.ACMA.gov.au.

Should you have any further queries, please contact us on 131 999. Our FOXTEL Customer Service Representatives are available 6AM to Midnight, 7 days a week.

Yours sincerely

Reply:dude, i hear you. they should pay US to watch tv these days cause you get like 30 mins of programming per hour and it doesn't even feel like you get that much because you're tuning out and forgetting what you were watching by the time it comes on, if you haven't changed the channel out of desparation.

...yeah, that's a pet peeve of mine, and I'm just talking about regular cable that my apartment pays for. You have to pay for yours? oh god. ever see fight club? you should pull a manuever on that company and make em understand, my man! no, i'm just kidding. can i get in trouble for saying that? corporations have no sense of humor these days because of liability issues. that's another pet peeve. I'm full of em.
